Renaissancedress

Renaissance Dress.

January 2008

This is yet another dress I made by modifying the pattern I bought for the pink Georgian dress. This time a section was taken from the front, and the whole bodice lengthended 3cm. The white chemise is from the same pattern used for the yellow renaissance dress, and is made from flanelette. It was pretty simple to make really, it only took me about two weeks to make the dress itself, which is less than I thought. Or maybe I just had more time on my hands.

But it's pretty awesome, the skirt flows really nicely when I walk and it's actually rather comfortable, however I could have made the armholes a little bigger. It may benefit from a corset of some kind worn underneath, but I didn't have one available at the time.

Wearing this dress made me feel like I should have been serving ale to pirates or something. But again, I forgot to take pics with the chemise off the shoulder for that authentic wench look. No doubt I'll be making more of these eventually anyway, they're easy and awesome-looking.
