1930'Sdress
2005
This dress was made in late-2005 and was inspired by a 1930s-style dress from a sewing pattern book. When I see dresses in pattern books I just think, 'it can't be that hard, I'll make it up myself'. Hasn't proved too hard so far, and this is another success story. Again, this one's made out of an old curtain I got from an op shop. Real squeeze too, had absolutely no leeway with the size of this curtain, it was tiny. And once again, the bodice of this dress is lined, this time with nylon lining fabric, of which I used the remainder to make the sash and bow around the empire line.
I really like this one, it's comfy, classy, and you could wear it to any function today. Kind of feel a bit like Marylin Monroe in it too - flashbacks to 'Diamonds are a Girl's best friend' in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Wrong colour, wrong decade, but you know what I mean.
