This is why the maroon Georgian dress took so long. Talk about suffering for your art. My sewing finger will never be the same.

Man, I'm on FIRE!! Second update in three days! Must be my subconscious reminding me I have to go back to work tomorrow. Anyway, here is an 18th century hanging pocket.
2/1/10
Happy New Year everyone! To mark the first update of the new decade, I've revisited my first ever costume design, and created this regency gown from the very same pattern I drafted way back in 2003. Look familiar?
28/11/09
I've introduced a small new feature - whenever you see this:
It means there is currently a corresponding project under construction, and pictures should hopefully soon follow. So keep checking back!

I've decided to scrap the 'Current Projects' page and start writing a journal of ShannonsDresses news in it's place. Go check it out.
30/3/09
This must be a first in the history of ShannonsDresses - two new projects added at once. We have a georgian gown here, and another georgian gown here. Enjoy!
19/3/09
I think I'm obsessed with Georgian costumes. I have a new one here and two more currently under construction. Plus one more still in my head...
28/2/09
Even though I'm not very happy with it, you can find pics of the regency dress here. But I have another one on the way - a forest green Georgian dress inspired by 'The Duchess'.
20/2/09
Almost exactly a year later and I am back home, and have already started on a new project - a chocolate brown Regency day dress. Watch this space for pictures!
26/2/08
Right, I'm off, and after this shannonsdresses will be on an indefinite hiatus, as I am going overseas and I don't know when I'm coming back! So thanks for your company over the past year and a half, and I'll see you when I plant my roots back in good old NZ soil again. Au revoir!
1/2/08
This is possibly my last dress update for a while - my blood red renaissance dress.
2/1/08
My medieval dress is finally finished! Pics can be found here, and you better appreciate them, because they might be the last for quite some time.

27/8/07
Because it was a nice day yesterday I decided to go for a walk to Savemart, and ended up spending $85 on curtains.

I just couldn't help myself. But I take reassurance in the fact that if I'd bought the fabric new it would have cost me hundreds. So I actually feel pretty awesome.
19/8/07
I don't think I've ever made a dress that took me less than a week. Go check out my new bias-cut satin royal blue 1930s-eque evening dress, here.
18/8/07
I'm making an awesome dress for my friend Beth to wear to her brother's wedding in Sydney in September. You can check out it's progress here.
14/8/07
There are three new hopeful concepts on the Future Ideas page. They will sit there patiently waiting until I have the time to make them a reality. In other news, I have been intensely working on a royal blue 1930s style dress, and will have piccies up asap. So watch this space.
3/8/07
My yellow medieval dress is slowly being tended to. You can see the latest developments on it here.
27/5/07
Here you go, just as promised. I've added two more pages to my Past Projects for my two attempts at Victorian-style corset making. And it might be the last update for a while yet.
26/5/07
Sorry about the delay kids, but I have finally got this show back on the road. I think I understand how this crazy new php set-up works, and I have added the content of my new Pink Georgian page. Go have a look see, and I'll be back soon with the other two projects that are ready.
10/5/07
Thanks, robotdanceteam, that's right, the redesign is finally done! Now, in the meantime while I work to understand how to update this monstrous labyrinth of new code, I've provided a teaser on the Past Projects page. I promise I'll be back with more soon. Soonish. Maybe. We'll see.
8/5/07
Re-Design is done! We're back in business! Boo-yah! How do you like me now?!
10/4/07
Yep, still waiting on that re-design...
30/3/07
And I've started another Victorian corset, with a different pattern, because I wasn't too pleased with the first one. It's in Current Projects at the moment, and it's going to be a lot more awesome.
27/3/07
Well I've already finished my Victorian corset, but I've asked my website designer for a slight redesign of the website, so I might wait until then to put the piccies up.
26/3/07
I've started my yellow medieval-inspired dress. It's on the Current Projects page as we speak.
20/3/07
Look what I found!
This book caught my eye as I browsed on Amazon, but when I went to a bookshop yesterday to pick up a book that I wanted that wasn't there, I saw this one instead. Good times! And I've already picked which pattern I'm going to start with. The easiest-looking one.28/2/07
Thanks to my new sewing machine I have another dress on the go - a pink georgian-esque dress. You can find it on the Current Projects page.
26/2/07
I have added a newly completed dress on the past projects page - 1920s Flapper. Awesome.
22/2/07
Guess what I bought! This little baby!

So watch this space ladies and gentlemen, Shannon is back in action!
Welcome to Shannon's Dresses!
Thank you for stopping by my humble little costuming website. If you are a budding costumer/dressmaker I hope you find some inspiration, or at least can be pointed in the direction of some.
This website is mainly just for fun, to showcase my amateur dress designing and making while learning something about making websites in the process. But I keep information pages of costumes I've already made, and a regularly updated journal for musings on costumes that are currently under construction, or that I wish to start on in the future. On top of that I have a complete page of links for where I myself have found inspiration elsewhere on the internet, which can hopefully help others find some.
So please, make yourself at home, take a look around, and I hope you find something you like!
Cheers,
Shannon
