A DOLL'S HOUSE BY HENRIK IBSEN- FEBRUARY 2011

A Doll's House was one of Ibsen's most famous and controversial plays, raising questions around marriage norms and women's rights. Set in the late 19th/early 20th century, around the time of the suffragette movement, it arguably helped kick off feminism. (And written by a man, who would have thought?).

This adaptation, produced by Stagecraft, was set in 1905, so closer to the Edwardian fashion than the Victorian fashion when it was originally set. I was the wardrobe co-ordinator, and had the fun job of sourcing and making a menagerie of Edwardian costumes. I felt much more comfortable making than sourcing, which is why I focused a lot on Nora Helmer and Kristina Lind's costumes, as the two female leads definitely needed their costumes to be specially made.

Thanks to Kerina for the production photos, Amy for being wardrobe assistant extraordinaire, and Liz for making the beautiful capes.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS - SEPTEMBER 2010

The Three Musketeers was a stageplay produced by the non-profit theatre company Stagecraft, and I was fortunate enough to be part of the wardrobe team.

I was asked to make costumes for two of the female leads - Milady de Winter and Constance Bonacieux. I was able to fully design the look of Milady's costume myself, and I really enjoyed doing this, as it allowed for a lot of artistic freedom with only a couple of specifications from the script.

Thanks to wardrobe co-ordinator Liz Page for taking me on and being supportive; and thanks to Mel, Alan, and (the other) Shannon for the production photos. Much appreciated.
